Photos, and a review, of what appear to be a new, very limited edition LEGO Architecture set, in the Discovery line, have been published on the web through lordbrick’s Brickshelf account and his review in HISPALUG website. Unfortunately it will probably be only available in Japan, and I can imagine it will be highly sought after, given the subject matter and design.
LEGO 21100 is a beautiful set of the Japanese SHINKAI 6500 manned research submersible. The ‘6500’ in the name refers to the SHINKAI being able to dive to a depth of 6,500 meters, and the set comes complete with beautiful packaging, a nicely-designed (and informative) manual, and a nice ocean-floor display for the submersible.
It apparently was the winner of a AFOL contest for the ‘Cuusoo’ line of Japanese LEGO sets, where if you get a 1000 people supporting you, you can have a set officially produced. Contest is probably not the right word to use, but either way it’s a unique concept, and one I’d like to see here in the US. These are very limited editions though – up to only 2,000 sets produced, and it is pricey – roughly around $130 USD. They are also individually numbered.
I would love to see this set produced for the North American and European markets.
